INNOVEER NAMES NEW VICE PRESIDENT OF BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE

After years of successfully implementing Siebel Analytics for numerous organizations, including ABN AMRO, Robeco Direct, Albemarle Catalyst Company, Johnson & Johnson, Irish Life Permanent Plc, and Juniper Networks, Innoveer Solutions is pleased to name Bas Swüste as its Vice President of Business Intelligence. With the addition of this new and exciting position, Innoveer continues to grow its service offerings, while its consultants benefit from learning and applying their new skills on challenging Business Intelligence (BI) projects.

In his new role, Bas will define Innoveer’s BI methodology, and expand the company’s BI-related service offerings and customer base. "The first step in our plan is to involve other Innoveer consultants interested in developing and honing Innoveer’s BI capabilities, direction, and worldwide strategy,” states Bas. He has also formed a Business Intelligence Community (BIC), and four members of the BIC will facilitate BI knowledge shares within their respective Practices.

Many Innoveer consultants have experience with Siebel Analytics and the Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition, among other BI tools. Countless others are taking the opportunity to broaden their skills through Bas’s internal BI awareness seminars and other external training programs, as well as by applying their new skills at client engagements. In addition, Innoveer is aggressively hiring experienced BI consultants in all geographies.

Innoveer recognizes the growing market demand for BI, and its clients are witnessing that without BI, it is more difficult to achieve their desired CRM outcomes. BI is necessary to maximize the value of the data collected within CRM systems.

Innoveer’s expansion is due in part to the evolution of data warehouse technology, which now enables organizations to obtain BI through real-time information loading that in turn provides immediate customer
intelligence. For example, Bas notes that “it is interesting as an Account Manager to have a list of calls or visits scheduled, but it is more beneficial to receive a report of all prospects who are likely to purchase a certain product at a specific time.”

Bas joined Innoveer in 2000 as a Director, and has been instrumental over the years in growing the Netherlands Practice through various responsibilities, including presales, engagement management, delivery, and recruiting. In his new role, Bas looks forward to leading Innoveer’s BI expansion efforts.

THE SOCIAL SIDE OF INNOVEER

Alina: How did you become the “Social Chair” at Innoveer Solutions?

Alison: My full-time job at Innoveer Solutions is Account Manager, based in our Cambridge, Ma. headquarters. My second role as Social Chair evolved gradually over the years. The Business Development team has a tradition of celebrating our achievements with simple get-togethers such as drinks at a local bar. Since our team has tripled in size over the last three years, our outings have become more involved, and other departments have requested help in planning additional events, which is how I became the Social Chair. I currently spearhead a committee responsible for planning two outings per year for our Boston-based employees, plus additional, less formal events throughout the year.

Alina: What does it mean to be a Social Chair?

Alison: I am the “go to” person for all social events. For example, when our New York Practice Leader took a family vacation to Boston, he asked me for recommendations for local sights and restaurants. The title “Social Chair” came up in conversations, and soon I became known as such. I learned that this is an official term originating from sororities in U.S. colleges where the “Social Chair” is responsible for planning all charity and entertainment activities. I especially enjoy socializing with all of my colleagues outside of work, and watching them have a great time at company outings.

Alina: What do some of the outings entail?

Alison: Most of our outings include visit to bars for drinks, restaurants for dinner, or nightclubs for dancing. During the winter, we attend sporting events, play pool, visit comedy clubs – you name it! This summer, I am planning our annual summer outing, which will be an afternoon Jazz Cruise, and our future events include car racing, bowling, and a “Boston Duck Tour.”

INTRODUCING THE TECHNOLOGY THINK TANK

Innoveer’s Technology Think Tank, known as the TTT, is a cross-practice team that focuses on evangelizing technology, and is led by Innoveer’s Chief Technology Officer, Bernard Drost. This group formed with the idea that many Innoveer projects use similar approaches and technologies, and it seemed logical to harvest that knowledge across all Practices and projects in order to avoid unnecessary duplication of efforts, as well as to document proven best practices.

The TTT is responsible for outlining Innoveer’s direction and strategy relative to new and existing technologies. Bernard, along with the TTT, uncovers and evaluates noteworthy technologies, determines where to form alliances, and ensures that Innoveer consultants are familiar with these technologies so that they evolve ahead of the ever-changing marketplace.

In addition to Bernard, there is one technical "guru" from each Practice that is responsible for distributing the TTT’s knowledge across the organization through Innoveer’s knowledge management portal, monthly communication meetings, and training seminars. In its latest initiative, the TTT formed three task forces focused on Oracle Fusion, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), and Business Intelligence.

The success of these initiatives, along with the TTT’s ambitious 2007 plans led to the expansion of the group from 5 to 10 members, including a technical "guru" from Innoveer’s newly opened New Mumbai, India office.
